Student's Advocate/Ombudsman
The independent Student Ombudsman authority has been established and operates at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The purpose of the Student's Ombudsman is the mediation between students (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral) and professors of any level or administrative services. The Ombudsman is responsible for upholding legality and academic ethics and order in the context of academic freedom, and deals with maladministration issues in order to safeguard the proper operation of the University. The Student’s Ombudsman does not intervene in substantive matters of teaching or examinations grading, but only examines cases of arbitrariness or violation of ethical rules during the conduct of examinations (written or oral).
The Student’s Ombudsman is responsible for addressing the issues, either through mediation between the parties or by intervention in the competent bodies. To this end, every member of the academic community may address the Ombudsman. The communication of students and professors with the Student’s Ombudsman is done either by phone with the central telephone line to serve the requests of the students of AUTh (tel. 2310999888), or by sending a message to the e-mail address of the student ombudsman@synigoros.gr.
The Ombudsman can also act ex officio.
International/Foreign students’ Support Office
An International/Foreign students’ Support Office operates in the Department of Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It is responsible for the support of international/foreign students who enroll in the study programs of the University and in particular, for the communication with other State bodies, regarding their residence and installation issues in the country/Greece
